Abstract: Bios have impressive and various optical functions, e.g. Morph butterfly wings, opal and mother of pearl have shining and iridescent structure color and octopus and chameleon can change color under stimuli. Beside the color in the bios, we are also interested in light transportation and its space distribution controlled by the biostructures. Learning from quasi-amorphous structure in the biostructures, we developed a solvent controlled spray method to generate quasi-amorphous silica NPs arrays and various uniform structure colors were realized by tuning the particle size. Further, we developed tool-independent photonic ink which could applied on various substrate by the bumpy nanoparticles. We also demonstrated many applications of uniform structure color e.g. ink, displayer and security. Recently we found a special butterfly species Carystoides escalantei which has unique retroreflection on its white spots. It was found the standing scales with periodical ridges and ribs were the mainly reason to form anisotropic reflection. The biological functions and evolution of the white spots also was discussed. Based on the idea from Carystoides, we fabricated microstrips hydrogel arrays with cuts. The hydrogel films changed the opacity and light transfer direction when the structure buckled under water.

个人简介:东华大学功能材料研究所,研究员、博导,上海浦江人才。2011年在哈尔滨工业大学获得工学博士学位,2012-2015年在美国宾夕法尼亚大学(UPenn)材料系从事博士后研究工作,201512月受聘于东华大学,主要从事动态光学界面、仿生微纳结构和功能复合材料的研究,并致力于上述材料在智能窗、能源与传感、结构材料等领域的应用。现已在PNAS, Advanced Materials, Nano Energy等杂志上发表研究文章30余篇,已获得PTC专利1项、中国发明专利4项。
